RELEASE DATE:  February 28, 2017
AUTHOR: Rachel Van Dyken
GENRE:  New-Adult, Contemporary, Romance.
PUBLISHER: Skyscape
SUMMARY:

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

I don’t know what to say about this book. Basically, I don’t read books that revolves around cheating or anything that deals with it but I want to give this a try because this one sounded very intriguing and it was also written by one of my favorite contemporary author Rachel Van Dyken. Honestly, It’s a book that you either hate it or love it. Although, there are lot of things that I felt wrong in this book, I still can’t help but enjoy it! It was quite an hilarious read with hot romance and crazy family drama. Lucas and Avery are hilarious characters who made this book even more entertaining to read.

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born as a cheater but it all changes when he finds himself in a complicated situation just before his wedding that destroys all his reputation forever. Currently, Lucas works as a VP in a company called Grant Learning that helps assigning tutors to the kids in schools. Now Lucas days are filled with different lady friend for every night of the week except for sunday’s that are only reserved for his sister. But suddenly, his past catches up with him when Lucas ex-fiance’s little sister joins his company as an intern. After getting thrown out from her last job, Avery is desperately looking for a job and Grant’s Learning is her only last hope. When Avery finds out that her new boss is none other than Lucas Thorn who has cheated on her older sister Kayla and also destroyed her family, she wanted to make his life as difficult as possible. Although Avery hates Lucas, she’s always been attracted to him and now working with him triggers her unresolved feelings that she always kept hidden from him.

I liked Avery! She’s a strong female lead who is sweet, adorable and independent. When she was in high school, her tomboyish and nerdy personality made her feel like an outsider among her beautiful older sisters who are quite opposite to her. Lucas thorn is a handsome  manhwore who has commitment issues. At the beginning, I hated his weird lifestyle that really disgusted me but I’m glad that at-least he was honest with every girl. When Lucas starts to redeem himself, his karma comes back and bites him in the ass and trust me, he totally deserved that. After I was finished with the book, I hate him less but it doesn’t mean I like him either. Lucas and Avery has intense attraction towards each other but they try pretty hard to deny their attraction. At start, I felt very wrong with their relationship but when It was finally revealed what really happened four years ago, I started to root for them. I loved the banters between them and also the romance which was sexy and hot as hell. As for the secondary characters, I loved Lucas’s hilarious Mom and also Lucas and Avery’s BF’s Thatch and Austin who are as much fun as the main characters and I really can’t wait to read to their story.

The plot was interesting and engaging! Even though some  parts are predictable, I totally enjoyed every part in it. The sisters thing definitely made this book so fucked up that some readers might feel uncomfortable but I wasn’t bothered with it that much. Lucas’s mom was a fun character who has brought lots of humor to the plot. The pacing was okay except for a few parts that felt dragged. I always love the witty writing style of RVD and she did it again with this book. I’m glad the book was told in dual POV which provided deep insight into the characters.

Overall, I liked it! It was fun and sexy contemporary read filled with humor, drama and hot romance. The next story is going to be about Thatch and Austin and I’ll definitely look forward to it

Recommend it?
Yes!

I recommend this book to everyone who loves to read fun contemporary romance especially to RVD fans.

Usually I avoid books that involve dating a sibling’s ex BUT I loved I Wish You Were Mine by LL so I hope that means this book will work out for me too. Fingers crossed and I’m so glad you enjoyed this one!

This one sounds like an interesting concept. I tend to shy away from the cheating books as well, but it seems like it all works out in the end! Thanks for sharing this one. 🙂
