MY REVIEW:

Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is my first GLBT novel that I’ve read so far, after hearing so many good things about it I was very excited before reading it. I’ve seen so many readers really loved it a lot that eventually made me interested in this book. After finishing this book, I can agree that it’s really an entertaining and fun read but it’s very sad that I didn’t loved it as much as others did. Honestly, the first part of the book really seemed slow paced and boring to me but I liked the second part of the plot, where things turned into something interesting and exciting.

This book mostly portrays the daily routine of sixteen-year old high school student, who is actually Gay and he is not comfortable with being public about his sexual identity. He’s got perfect friends and supportive parents, who isn’t aware that he is  gay and he is afraid that his friends gonna hate him if they found out about him. Everything in this plot seemed very realistic. The plot of the book is simple and the thing that made me more interested to continue with the story is to know real identity of blue.

Simon is an interestingly unique character to get to know and he’s got an obsession with Oreos too. He seems like a totally cool and fun guy to hang out with and I’d really wish that I have a friend like him in real life. I’ve really liked the friendship between Simon, Nick,Leah and Abby which I think is another best part of the plot which is wonderfully portrayed. The story was adorable and somewhat hilarious too with Simon’s sarcastic talk. Simon being Gay is only known to his online friend named Blue, whose real identity is the mystery of the plot. Simon and Blue forms a deep bond by sending each other emails everyday which eventually turns into something much more than friendship. Simon’s classmate Martin finds out his secret when he accidentally reads the emails between Simon and Blue which will not only become a problem for him but also to blue, who maintains strict privacy and Simon doesn’t want to loose him. Simon’s life gets more complicated, when Martin starts blackmailing him that he would reveal his secret if he didn’t help him out with Abby who he has a crush on. I think stalking  is a bit creepy but blackmailing about it is a pretty much low thing to do and it’s called  bullying too. In my view, Martin is the official douche bag in this book and at the end he finally realizes what a jerk he truly was.

I’m not really surprised that this book caught so many reader’s attention even those who isn’t comfortable with this genre has shown interest in this book which is really a great thing to achieve. I think it’s the most hyped GLBT book so far. There is a nice character development  after Simon finally overcomes his demons. The real identity of blue is truly shocking and unexpected too but  I’d predicted it was him but I wasn’t sure then. I think the author’s writing style was  perfect for this plot which was addicting. The story was written in Simon’s POV. Even though I didn’t enjoyed it as much as others did but I really do like it.I think many of the readers would definitely love it so yes, I’d highly recommend this book to everyone.
