I’m a S.J. Maas fan and this was one of my top anticipated reads. First of all, the cover art for this book was gorgeous and I really hope the publishers will stick to this theme and don’t replace it with a dull one in the future. Well coming to the book, I can’t say this was my favorite S.J. Maas work, but it was an enjoyable read. It’s an urban fantasy with a mix of paranormal elements. The story was overall entertaining but the length of the book was unnecessarily long. It’s one of the major drawbacks of this book. Nothing exciting happens until you reach seventy percent of the book. The author tried to make up for it by throwing lots of surprising twists and turns in the end and they really worked. If it wasn’t for them, I would’ve given this book a less than four stars rating.
This book had left me emotionally wrecked. It was my first book by the author, and I was very impressed. The story was simply beautiful. I really enjoyed the religious aspect, the characters, the romance, and the plot. I usually avoid books that heavily revolves around religion, but I’m glad that I still gave this a shot. It was a good stand-alone YA fantasy read. I really liked it, even though the ending had left me pretty sad.😭😭😭
A Deal With the Elf King is a Beauty and The Beast meets Hades and Persephone. I love arranged marriage tropes between enemies, and I knew I had to read this book. Well, I really liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. Although I was into the story, I wasn’t able to connect with the characters. The overall plot was entertaining! It was nothing new, but I sure had fun reading it. It was a stand-alone read, and mostly appropriate for older teens and New Adults.
The Wren Hunt duology was a cover buy for me. The series was based on an Irish Mythology that I’ve never read before. I loved the magical elements and how everything was set in the modern world where two magical races battle for power in Ireland. It’s actually not a fae novel, it’s something different and unique. The characters were good but not memorable enough. Overall, I liked it even though I had issues with some aspects. Both of them can be read as a standalone read. I enjoyed the first book more than the second one.
Kiss the fae is the first book in the Vicious faeries series. I love fae novels and I’ve been waiting ages for this series. I jumped right into this world after I got my hands on it. The cover looks gorgeous and loved the beautiful map. I really enjoyed the Labyrinth setting, the characters, and the sizzling romance. Overall, I loved it! Can't wait for Juniper and Puck's story!
Winter Plague is the complete collection of the series and I absolutely devoured it. This series was so addicting that I binge read the entire collection in three sittings. It’s a post apocalyptic read filled with action, adventure, horror, survival, and slow burn romance. I’m a great fan of books that has survival themes, and this book was a total delight to read. Due to the dark themes, It’s mostly appropriate for older teens and new adults. During this pandemic, it was a very satisfying read. I highly recommend it!
