MY REV (Copy)

Love isn’t a decision. It arrives unannounced, breeds madness, and leaves a sea of ruin in its wake.

This book was a wild ride! I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. This was actually my first book by the author and I’m very impressed with the way she weaved this tale. The story was dark, twisted, steamy, and very much captivating. I absolutely devoured it! This was a super dark historical romance with pirates. It has multiple love interests so if you’re aren’t comfortable with that part then this book isn’t for you.

Bennett Sharp is a twenty one year old female pirate captain who’s wanted for piracy. She’s running from the authorities and also her cheating ex-husband the notorious pirate Priest Farrell who wants to rekindle their marriage. Even though she still loves him, Bennett can never forgive him for his infidelity. One day her ship gets attacked by ice cold pirate hunter Lord Ashley Cutler, Commodore of HMS Blitz. She gets captured, awaiting for her trial which is obviously a death sentence for people like her. To escape from that fate, Bennett decides to seduce the ruthless Lord Cutler but quickly realizes that her charms aren’t working on him and to make matters worse she’s slowly falling for him despite knowing that he would never love her back.

I absolutely loved Bennett! She’s bold, strong, sassy, independent, and cunning. She’s a perfect female pirate. I admired her strength and love for her parents. Ashley Cutler was broody, cold and a very complex guy. He was always guarded and doesn’t show his emotions easily. He was kind of an ass in the first half of the book. The romance between Bennett and Ahsley was filled with hatred, passion, and angst. They don’t trust each other even though they feel the attraction between them. I also liked Priest Farrell’s character. He doesn’t realize that he loves Bennett until she leaves him from his life. He’s been chasing her for months and tries hard to convince her. I felt bad for this guy. He has fallen hard for her.

The plot was well executed. It has adventure, action, hot romance, and so much more. There are some twisted and gruesome stuff so be warned. The story moved in a fast pace and I couldn’t put it down even for a sec. It was an emotional rollercoaster. The characters were well built and well developed. The twists were unpredictable and the tragic love story of Bennett’s parents really touched my heart. The author’s writing was absolutely gorgeous. It’s one of the best aspects of this book. Loved the first person POV. The historical world that the author had build was rich and detailed. She did a great job in describing every little detail.

Overall, I loved this book! It was a good stand-alone read with enemies to lovers trope. The story concluded with a perfect ending and I hope the author writes even more historical romances in the future.

Hated, passion and angst? I’m all up for that! I actually read the prequel to this, King of Libertines, so I really should read this soon!

I’ve been wanting to read a fabulous pirate book but since this one has multiple partners, that isn’t really my thing. But besides that, this sounds like a book I would love! I’ll be looking out for other books by this author ♥.
