MY REV (Copy)

I honestly never read a book by this author so I didn’t know what to expect from this book. It has a pretty tempting cover so I couldn’t resist it. I’m a sucker for anything fae and this book was a delight to read. I really didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. Even though there’re some flaws, I found the story very unique and entertaining.

Seventeen Year old Allie Hunter is the girl that no one cares. Her father and her are the village hunters. Allie’s odd features of bright red hair, and thorny personality makes people avoid her. She doesn’t have any friends unlike her sister Hulanna who’s not only beautiful, but also admired by all the people in the village. When Hulanna steps through the forbidden faerie circle, she gets kidnapped by a wicked fae lord who convinces her that she was his mate. Allie barely escapes from the same fate, but she loses her eyesight except for the spirit world. She can clearly see the fae who’re invisible to others, but no one believes her. Allie somehow feels responsible for her sister’s disappearance, and she’ll do anything to bring her back from the faewald, and get rid of the fae in her village.

I loved Allie Hunter! She’s fierce, smart, selfless, and a brave character. She cared for her village even though they blamed her for every single damn thing that she wasn’t responsible for. Even when the odds were against her, she never gave up. I don’t know what to say about Hulanna, but currently I’m really not much fan of her. There’s also another character named Odin who played Mandolin to keep the fae from crossing the circle. I actually liked him in the beginning, but he turned out to be an ass. And last but not the least, I loved the fae named Scouvrel. He’s mysterious, wicked, and oh so seductive. Allie trapped him in a cage and he’s her prisoner. I absolutely enjoyed every interaction between them. They’re my favorite parts. He reminded me of Cardan, and I can’t wait to know more about him. The secondary characters were kinda okay-ish. They didn’t grab my interest, but I’m so looking forward to meet more fae.

The plot was interesting filled with adventure, intrigue, and action. It had me captivated from the very beginning. The fae in this book were dark and twisted. They lure people into their trap with their beauty which is a facade. There’re some surprising twists and turns. The story moved in a fast pace and there’s not even one dull moment.  The ending was pretty good, but I saw that coming. I liked the writing style of the author and enjoyed reading the story from Allie’s POV. The world building is decent. It’s a typical village setting, but I hope we get to explore faewald in the next book. The magical elements in this book are very unique. I liked the ancient artifact Cage of souls which is used to trap the fae inside it, and also the magical scarf. It’s one of the aspects, I liked in this book.

Overall, It was a great start to a new series! Despite some minor issues, I had lots of fun reading it. The book concludes with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to know what the author has in store for us next.

Recommend it?
Yes

I definitely recommend this book if you’re into dark and twisted fae novels with fierce heroine and wicked fae.
