Prince Poison is the first book in the New-Adult fantasy series Gods and Monsters. It’s a short length novella but it did left me wanting for more. I loved the concept, the setting, and the gods mythology. The heroine Valissa is a strong heroine with a deadly secret. It’s just the start of the series but I already fell in love with our anti-hero Prince Poison.

Lissa lives on an island Zwayk. Her mother sacrificed her life to protect Lisa’s dark secret and she currently lives in her brother’s house.  She works as an entertainer. When a new ship docks to her island, Lisa and her best-friend attends the midnight Party where they meet the pirate named Jasper. In her drunken stupor, when Lissa accidentally touches him she realizes that he’s an aniel, the child of a god who can detect anomalies like her. As soon Lissa sucks the power out of Jasper with her touch, it’s too late. She soon gets captured by them and he takes her to the Isle of Gods where Prince Poison lives. He’s rumored to be the cruelest of them all and Lissa knew her survival chances are pretty low but she didn’t know the Prince Poison has other plans for her.

I enjoyed Lissa’s character. I’m glad she’s not the perfect strong character who doesn’t fear anything. She stood strong even though she was pretty scared inside. Prince Poison is a mysterious character with a lot of anti-hero vibes. I seriously can’t wait to know more about him. The secondary characters were also good. I liked both Jasper, and Lissa’s best friend Ava.

The plot was engaging throughout. I devoured it in one sitting. The pace was perfect and I enjoyed the unique gods concept. I would love to know more about the other gods in this series. The book was written in Lissa’s POV. The author’s writing was easy to follow. The world she created was interesting and I want to explore more of it.

Overall, I absolutely loved this novella! It was a great start to a new series and I can’t wait to jump into the next book because this one was ended with a cliffhanger.

Recommend it?

I highly recommend this if you’re into Dark New Adult Fantasy Romance books with anti-hero.

What an interesting way to start a series… with a novella! The gods do sound like a neat concept. And just the name Prince Poison gives me cool vibes. Glad you enjoyed it so much Raven!
