SUMMARY :

Emilia

They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true. The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares. He is a brilliant lawyer. A skilled criminal. A beautiful liar. A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.

Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.

Vicious

She is a starving artist. Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom. Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down. She paid the price.

Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate. That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t. So she hates me. Big fucking deal. She better get used to me.

“He was perfectly imperfect. Flawlessly flawed. Most importantly— he was Vicious.

Vicious is the first book in a stand alone series Sinners Of Saint. I’ve never read any book by L.J. Shen but I’ve heard great things about this series especially Vicious so I finally decided to give it a shot and I wasn’t disappointed. I can now understand why there’s so much hype surrounding this book but I don’t think it would work out for everyone. The male lead in this book was totally messed up. He’s quite an arrogant douchebag who’s obsessed with the heroine but also hates her. So it’s kind of a hate to love romance which I’m totally sucker for. I actually loved reading this book. It was an addicting read! Even after finishing the book, I still hate the guy because he was still kind of an A-hole till the very end. It’s the real him and you just have to deal with it!

Emilia is your typical sassy and sweet girl who has a strange fascination for Vicious, the school’s bad boy and a rich spoiled brat. She hates her attraction to him but she don’t know why she feels so much drawn to him whenever he was near. On the other hand, Vicious is a total bully and Class A A-hole. He’s pretty much obsessed with Emilia but at the same he hates the goodness in her which makes him wants to corrupt her. She’s the only one who knows his dark secret and he feels she might become a trouble for him. He wants her out of his life and he does succeed by using his nefarious ways. Ten years later, fate brings them back together. Vicious is a pretty complex guy. Although I enjoyed reading his character, I wouldn’t say he was my favorite. I like arrogant jerks in my romance books but Vicious seemed too cold-hearted and mean. Some of his actions were unforgivable. His mind was always on the gutter when it comes to Emilia. Seriously, you’ll either hate this guy or like him. I’m still confused about where I stand. I absolutely hate him but a tiny little part of me liked him at the end. As for the secondary characters, I liked Emilia’s sister Rosie. She was  fun and very much protective of her sister. I also liked Vicious best friend Dean. He seemed like a decent guy and not at all vicious like our hero. There’s also another character named Trent but I didn’t paid much attention to him.

The plot was very much entertaining, addicting, and engaging! From the start, I was hooked to the plot. The romance between Emilia and Vicious was steamy, angsty, and tension filled. I really loved the chemistry between these two. I’m glad the sexy times doesn’t start until you get to the second half because I prefer books which focus more on the story and less on the sex. Loved the writing style of the author. I flew through it without any struggle. There’s some dirty talk in this book which I know some people find it off-putting so be warned. This book was written in dual POV’s. The pacing was just perfect.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read filled with  hot romance, family drama, and a dash of bromance! Despite not loving the male lead, I still had fun reading this book and I would definitely check out the next book which is Gabe’s story.

Oh. My. Gosh! Why haven’t I picked up one of her books yet?! My childhood friend that I go to book signings with has been harassing me for years. Usually I read everything she tells me too but I keep spacing on this author. I already bumped her book up on my tbr and I’m interested to see how I feel about Vicious after everything you’ve said!
