“She was the heir of ash and fire, and she would bow to no one.”
Heir Of Fire is the third Installment in Throne Of Glass series. My mind was in a jumbled mess after finishing this book. The ending was pretty much intense, horrifying, heart breaking and sad, It left me stunned. There are some interesting new characters introduced in this book and I loved all of them. The plot was amazing but it was a bit slower paced than expected. As for the romance part, I’ve got a lot of mixed feelings about it. The world building was fantastic. This book mostly focused on character building and introducing new major characters. It also sheds some light on Aelin’s Past and what really happened when she ran from Terrasen. Although nothing major happened until the end part, I enjoyed every minute of this book.
In the previous installment, Celaena finally discovers that she’s Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, the lost heir of Terrasen. After saying a sad goodbye to Chaol, she finally departs for Wendyln. The story continues ten days after Celaena arrives in Wendlyn and meets a broody fae prince who’s pretty much rude to her. He takes her to her Aunt Queen Mab. To complete her mission, Celaena needs her help in finding information about the Wyrd keys which can act as gateways to different dimensions. To get her answers, She first needs to prove herself to the Queen. To fulfill her Oath to Nehemia, Celaena must embrace her Fae side and control her fire power. And her trainer is none other than the broody fae prince named Rowan. Meanwhile, the king Of Adarlan is creating a powerful dark army ready to be unleashed in their world. Celaena must become strong enough to fight against him and stop him before he wrecks total havoc in their world.
I loved all the characters including the new ones. Celaena becomes even more strong, mature, and powerful in this book. I enjoyed her character development. We finally get a glimpse of her dark past and it was really heart breaking. And man, she has so many love interests in this series and they all are amazing. Prince ROWAN Whitethorn is one of the major highlight of this book. He is totally a alpha male guy with broody personality but I must agree with everyone that he’s definitely a swoon worthy character. I like him, but honestly I like Chaol more. He was a total jerk towards Celaena at the beginning but as they come to learn more about each other, they develop a bond and slowly becomes friends. There relationship isn’t romantic yet but in the future I can definitely see it developing into something more. I loved CHAOL! He’s one of my favorite characters in this series because I really like his loyal and Honorable personalty. In heir Of Fire, he’s still torn about which side to choose and I’m pretty sad that Celaena and Chaol’s relationship is not the same anymore. I was shipping hard for them from the start, but with ROWAN on the scene, it’s sinking slowly and I think it won’t stand for much longer. DORIAN was amazing, as always. I liked his new love interest but I feel sad with how it was ended. I actually saw that coming. AEDION is a general of Adarlan’s army and also Celaena’s cousin. His character was pretty interesting. He was handsome, fun and clever. I really enjoyed his character. And last but not the least, I loved MANON & ABRAXOS. Manon Blackbeak was another new strong female protagonist in this series. I really liked her character and I absolutely adored her relationship with her pet Abraxos. Abraxos is a total softie inside despite his terrifying outside appearance. He reminded me so much of Toothless! He’s definitely one of my favorite characters in this series.
The plot was engaging but it was slower paced. Honestly, I don’t like slow paced books, but surprisingly this one never left me bored even though it was 550+ pages long. There’s not much romance in this book except for Prince Dorian’s. So many secrets and past were finally revealed in this book. I enjoyed all the revelations! I loved the beautiful writing. The book was written in multiple third person POV’s. The POV shifts might be a bit annoying to some readers but it didn’t bother me much. I actually loved this format because It gave more insight into this story. I might’ve gotten bored if it was only told from Celaena’s POV. The world building and magic was fantastic! I loved Wendlyn and the dark creatures lurking in their world. The skin walkers were totally creepy, and coming to the demonic Valg princes they reminded me of creepy vampires. Dark, Evil, Seductive, and handsome. I’m glad the author gave more focus on the Magical part, I really enjoyed it.
Overall, I loved this book! The ending in Adarlan part was horrifying and Sad. I think no one saw that coming. I can’t wait to know what happens next! It’s good to have our Assassin back in Adarlan.
