Once freed, these beasts will roam the earth, devouring every last person until he or she is nothing but an empty husk. But Ruby is able to control the Minax to a degree, and now she, her beloved Arcus, and her friend Kai must find a way to bring Frostbloods and Firebloods–sworn enemies–together to make a stand against a foe more deadly than any they’ve faced.

MY REV (Copy)

Nightblood was a perfect conclusion to the frostblood Saga. The second book Fireblood had ended with a surprising twist and since then, I’ve been eagerly waiting for this finale. Despite the tropes, this series was very much entertaining so far and it never left me disappointed. The whole journey was a fun ride filled with action, adventure, drama, magic, and romance. I loved Ruby, Arcus, and Kai working as a team and it’s too bad that it’s time to say goodbye to them because I want more of their adventures. I’m really gonna miss them. If you haven’t read the previous installments then please skip the summary part to avoid the spoilers.

The story picks up from where it was left off in the second book. After destroying the thrones, the two minax has been finally released and it brought a evil god named Eurus into their world who’s hell bent on enslaving humans by his dark force Minax. Ruby, Arcus, and Kai heads back to Tempesia to see Brother Thistle and search for answers to destroy this major threat. They discover that the only way to fight against a Minax is by a frostfire which can only be possible by uniting frostblood and fireblood forces. So Sudesia and Tempesia has to join forces to fight against their enemy. Before it’s too late, they need to stop Eurus from opening the Gate of Light which would bring chaos in to their world. In the meantime, Ruby is fighting against the fire minax inside her who’s trying to take control of her. She has to stop Eurus and end his future plans for her before she totally gets succumbed to the demon inside her.

Ruby has matured a lot after the second book. She might be flawed and a bit reckless, but that’s the best part about her. When the fire Minax tries to take control of her, she fights against it. I enjoyed her inner struggles with the demon. It makes her Vulnerable, but it didn’t  stop her strong determination to save the humanity. Arcus was totally swoon worthy. He loves Ruby and that much was obvious. He’s still a broody guy and I loved seeing him as a Jealous boyfriend. He wants to understand her more, but Ruby didn’t want to burden him more with her troubles. There was a lot of heated arguments and bickering between them but they do make up in the end. I absolutely love this couple. Their romantic banters were my favorite parts in this book.  As for Prince Kai, he’s still brooding from being friend-zoned by Ruby and wants her to give him a chance which he already knows is a lost cause. I actually love this guy and I enjoyed the bond between him and Ruby. He was pretty fun. I felt a little bit bad for him, but I couldn’t ship him with Ruby. He definitely deserves a story of his own. The secondary characters were also pretty good and they all made this book even more enjoyable.

The plot was fast paced and engaging throughout. I slowly devoured this book and there is never a dull moment. There were some interesting twists throughout the story which kept me hooked to the plot till the end. Even though things seemed a bit rushed at the end, it was really a satisfying ending to the series. The writing was great, it was easy to follow. The book was divided into three parts and it was told in Ruby’s first person pov. I enjoyed reading this book from Ruby’s POV, but I wish we also had some snippets of Arcus and Kai’s POV’s. Although this book doesn’t have much world building, I loved the gods and mythology aspect. It was really good.

Overall, this was a great read! The characters were pretty fun and the story was filled with right amount of adventure, action, and romance. Everything was wrapped up perfectly. I’m pretty much satisfied with the ending but I’m so sad that this series was finally over. It was a fun ride. I’ll definitely look forward to the author’s next work.
