MY REV (Copy)

Okay, I’ve got mixed bag of feelings about this book. It was a good finale to this trilogy but it really wasn’t a mind blowing one. I expected this finale to be fully action packed but the story moved in a slow pace which was a bit disappointing and the main action is found at the end of the book. Although I had issue with the pacing, the story never failed to hold my interest.  The characters were pretty good. Besides Arianna and Cvareh, I loved seeing Florence in her new role. She played a major part in this book and I’m glad to see her in action. She looks pretty badass in that stunning cover and I absolutely loved it.

* Contains Spoilers to readers who hasn’t read book 2*

The story picks up from where it was left off in Dragons in Nova where Arianna escapes from the dragon King’s clutches in nova with the help of a glider and crash lands at the mercury town in Loom. She soon wakes up to find herself captive of Louie, king of Mercury town who wants to make a deal with her. On the  other hand, Florence wants to unite all of the five guilds in Loom to fight against their dragon oppressors. On Nova, Cvareh was devastated to hear about his sister petra’s death and he can’t do anything but to serve his traitorous brother Finnyr, the new Oji of House Of Xin. To have a chance against the dragons, the people of Loom need an army of perfect chimera but it wouldn’t bring them the total victory they also need to ally with Cvareh and his house of dragons. Finally, unlikely allies team up together to fight against their enemy to bring peace and a new change.  But the evil mastermind Coletta was far smarter than they thought she was and she would do anything to bring down her enemies.

Florence was definitely the star of the book and she grew into a such a strong character filled with lots of confidence, intelligence, and fearlessness. She also got a love interest in this book. Her unrequited feelings towards someone didn’t came as a surprise to me and I’m quite happy with her final choice at the end. Arianna was totally badass and she’s still my favorite character in this series. I always liked her hot and cold personality especially towards Cvareh. She likes him but she tries hard to deny her feelings towards him because they’re both from different worlds. Cvareh was a pretty enjoyable character. With his sister’s death, his whole world turns pretty much upside down and the responsibility of his house rests on his shoulder even though he wasn’t the Oji. I wish we had more Cvareh’s POV’s because this book mostly has Florence’s, Arianna’s and Coletta’s perspectives. Besides the romance between Cvareh and Arianna, there is also an LGBTQ romance but it’s not the central focus of the book. If you’ve read the previous book, then you’ve already guessed who’s the main villain of this series. Yeah, It’s Coletta. She’s smart but at the same time totally creepy. I really wish she was more powerful with some badass skills besides making mastermind evil plans for her husband and creating dangerous poisons because I would love to see a kickass fight between her and Arianna. Nonetheless, she still makes an interesting villain.

The plot was interesting but I felt the pacing a bit slow. Most of the plot was focused on planning the war against the dragon king and things gets intense only at the ending part. My other issue was the rushed ending. More than 80 percent of the book was focused on planning the war against the dragon king and when the time for final battle begins, it ends very soon like in few chapters. It was over just like that and here I was expecting an epic battle like I found in Air Awakens series. So I was a bit disappointed with how things ended so quickly in a rush. However, I still enjoyed the whole journey. The writing style of the author was descriptive and Vivid, as always. The story was told from Arianna’s, Florence’s, Cvareh’s, and Coletta’s perspective. The world building was stunning and it’s the best aspect of this whole series.

Overall, I liked it! It’s not my favorite, but It’s definitely a satisfying finale. I loved the ending, it seemed a bit fairytale-ish to me but it’s really a good one. I can’t believe this series was finally over. Although it wasn’t my favorite series, I’m still gonna miss Arianna, Cvareh, and Florence, and also the world of Loom and Nova. After finally saying goodbye to this series, I’m so looking forward to Elise Kova’s new series Society Of Wishes which is going to be released soon. I can’t wait to read it!

Recommend it?
Yes!

I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves YA fantasy filled with amazing world building, kickass main characters, and interesting plot.

This is such a great review Raven.♥️ I feel like I totally know what to expect when I read it, which I want to do this year. I’m disappointed Cva wasn’t a balanced POV, and honestly it sounds like a fourth book was needed to deal with Colletta sans her husband who basically was a beard. Still I’ll read it and I really hope I like it better than 3.5 stars but it is what it is…

What a great review! I’m so glad I stumbled across it because I completely forgot that I still had to read the finale 😂 sorry that it was so slow-paced at first and it overall didn’t quite live up to what you were hoping for! I was hoping for Florence to become super strong and confident in this book because we’ve seen little bits of that in the second book so I can’t wait to see her development in the third book! I also really like this world and I don’t want to say goodbye to the characters but I’m excited to read other books by Elise Kova!

Thank you, Jackie! Florence was super strong character in this book! I really hope you enjoy it more than I did! Elise Kova is a great fantasy author with a imaginative mind! You must read her Air Awakens series! 🙂

Yay that makes me happy to hear! I’ve heard Air Awakens is kind of like Avatar: The Last Airbender??? That is one of my favourite shows so if the books are anything like that, I’ll love it for sure XD
