Warning: This review contains some profanity so be warned!

Riddle me this…
“I am neither dead, nor alive, and I’m not something little Madison can hide.
But you will be dead, by the time this is done…
the timer starts now, and the games have just begun…”

WHAT DA F*CK DID I JUST READ???

“Hello, Madison. You may not know us, but we know you. We want to play a game. Here`s what happens if you lose…”

I can’t describe how much fucked up this book was. All the characters in it were totally insane.  I was very intrigued when I read the synopsis of this book and the author’s warning note has done nothing but pique my interest. I also loved the beautiful cover of this book. This book totally blew my fucking mind with all its mind fuckery. I honestly didn’t liked any of the characters in this book because every one is pretty much screwed up in their own way but it  didn’t hinder my enjoyment. Although this book was set around high school students, it’s definitely not for young adults. This was my first book from Amo Jones so I really don’t know what to expect from her but I knew this is going to be another dark and twisted story. After finishing this book, all I can say that it is not too dark as expected but definitely a twisted and thrilling tale. I think this book is not for everyone because you’re either going to hate it, love it or maybe get repulsed by it.

“This is all a game, kitty. Bishop, me, the Kings – it’s a game, but it’s a death match.”

The story follows Madison Montgomery whose mother killed herself with Madison’s gun after killing the woman her father was having an affair with. When Madison’s father remarries, she moves to a new city and attends a private school named  Riverside Preparatory school. Madison wants to start a new life at the new school but it seems her past makes it pretty much impossible for that to happen. At the first day of her school, she gets the attention of the bad boys of the school who also owns the school and they’re  rumored to be the members of a super secret club called “The Elite Kings Club”. She gets intrigued by everyone in the club especially Bishop, the leader of the group who can’t stop taking his cold eyes away from her. Her new friend Tatum warns her to stay away from the boys but she doesn’t know she’s pretty too late for that because they already had their eyes on her. Madison knew these guys are trouble and when she enters their world, they turn her life pretty much upside down. It seems like everyone’s keeping secrets from her that might be something to do with her. When all the lies and family secrets are finally exposed can Madison be the same again? Can she handle the truth?

“The students of Riverside Prep are just pawns in their sick and twisted games. They own this school, Madison.”

All the characters in this book were flawed and honestly, I didn’t like any of them but I did enjoyed reading about them. Madison is a feisty, stubborn and sassy character who don’t give a shit about what everyone thinks. She might be not my favorite female protagonist but it doesn’t mean I hate her either. Maybe I would’ve liked her more if she didn’t acted like a slutty character sometimes. The step sibling relationship between Nate and Madison seemed pretty disturbing to me because he calls her sister but he doesn’t mind ogling her body and making out with her*gag*. All the guys in this book were fucking A-holes. Bishop is totally alpha male, arrogant and dark. He has a hard edged personality and has some sort of obsession with Maddy. The hate to lust or hate to love relationship between Maddy and Bishop is quite explosive and their hot chemistry is definitely off the charts. As for the secondary characters, we have Nate,Tatum, Tillie, Brantley, Carter, Abel, Hunter, Chase, Eli and Cash. Nate is Madison’s new step brother and also a total manwhore who loves to tease Maddy. Brantely is pretty hateful guy who has a mean and rude personality. I thought Carter is a good guy but he turns out to be another arrogant asshole. Tatum and Tillie are Madison’s new friends and I really enjoyed the friendship between these three.

They are not the boys I suspected they were. They`re the kind of monsters you warn people about. Not naïve children, but adults. The kind who lie, cheat, manipulate, seduce, and kill, just to get what they want. They`re the kind you run from.

The plot was thrilling, suspenseful, mysterious and engaging. Though the plot felt quite unrealistic, the story captivated me from the start. The pacing was perfect with no dull moments.  As the mystery slowly unveils with each chapter, It was easy to predict how it’s going to end and the second half has literally kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. Seriously, this book was hard to put down even for a sec and I just finished it in one sitting. I liked the writing style of this book. It’s too bad that this  book was told in Madison’s POV because I really wanted to know what’s going on in Bishop’s mind. Nevertheless, it made me even more excited to know the truth. This book actually reminded me of Paper princess but this one is far more twisted than that.

“In this world, secrets are weapons, kitty. It’s what stands between us and six feet underground.”

Overall, I loved it!  It was a thrilling read filled with suspense, mystery, hot steamy romance and drama. I already knew this was going to end with a shocking cliffhanger and now I’m dying to know what’s gonna happen next.

Recommend it?

I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves dark twisted or disturbing contemporary romances. This book is not recommend for young readers who are 18 years below of age.

Wow, this book does sound messed up! I’m not sure I would like it, just because it has a harem kind of vibe going on, as in, every boy seems to want Maddy and I’m not really sure why? Hahaha but anyway, could be something I’d read when in the mood for something twisted.
    Great review, Raven! 😉

It really is pretty messed up! Yeah, it does have a harem vibe to it but bishop is the only one who likes her and the other guys only want to play with her you know what I mean. If you like twisted dark plots then definitely give this a try.
      Thank you! 🙂

Wow, your review definitely made imagine crazy things about the story. It really, really sounds twisted as hell. I’m glad to hear you were able to enjoy it though! It definitely would’ve been nice to be able to get Bishop’s POV, maybe the next book will explore something different? 😛
