The Cad and the Co-Ed (Rugby #3) By L.H. Cosway & Penny Reid[Review]

The Cad and the Co-Ed (Rugby, #3)RELEASE DATE:  February 12, 2017
AUTHOR: L.H. Cosway
GENRE:  Adult, Contemporary, Romance.
SUMMARY: Keeping a secret this big is going to take lots of balls. Specifically, rugby balls.

THE CAD
Bryan Leech is a cad.
Or, he *was* a cad.
No one is quite certain.
Once the quintessential playboy, Bryan claims he’s done with wild parties and weekend benders. No more one night stands leading to mornings he can’t remember; no more binges and blackouts; no more exploits plastered all over the tabloids and rag sheets. According to Bryan, he’s cleaning up his act.
The only problem is, no one believes him.

THE CO-ED
Eilish Cassidy never thought she’d be a mother at nineteen or still in college at twenty-four. Cut off from every member of her family except her favorite cousin, she’s finally managed to put her life back together. Stronger and wiser, Eilish enters her last semester of university determined to stand on her own. Now she just needs to find an internship.
The only problem is, her best option—by far—places her directly in the path of her son’s father, and he doesn’t remember her at all.

THE PLAN
Bryan is determined to prove he’s changed. Eager to settle down with the right woman, he’s got his sights set on the gorgeous redhead who seems terribly familiar.
Eilish is determined to hide her secret. She’ll do anything to keep her child safe, even if that means ignoring her own wishes and desires.
But what happens when Bryan starts to remember? And what will it take for Bryan to convince the girl he forgot that she’s unforgettable?

Since I’ve finished The Player and The Pixie, I’ve been dying to read The Cad and The Co-Ed and look at that appealing sexy cover I mean who can resist that. I was very excited when I finally got this book in my hands and without waiting a sec I immediately got into it. After finishing this book, I can pretty much say this was an enjoyable read but not amazing enough for me to fangirl over. This book is a second chance secret baby romance and I’ve read many books with similar plots and sadly, this book didn’t bring nothing new to the store. The major reason that it failed to impress me was the insta-love and also the slow pacing. Although I ended up liking this book, this is going to be my least favorite book in this series so far.

I liked Eilish and Bryan but Sean and Lucy would always be my favorite couple. Eilish is a pretty likable character. She’s not only sweet and caring person but also a great mother who sacrificed everything to care for her son. I really admired her strength in taking care of herself and her son alone without her parent’s help who abandoned her. Bryan is a wonderful character. He used to be a reckless party guy who indulged himself in drinking and manwhoring, and currently he is recovering from alcoholism that nearly ruined his career and his life. Both of the main characters led a pretty hard life. I felt a bit sympathetic towards Bryan when I learned about how he grew up in a bad environment since he was a child. I honestly liked Eilish and Bryan together but the insta-love thing ruined my enjoyability a little bit. The first time they meet they can’t take eyes off each other and Eilish is totally spell bound by his hot bod which seemed totally cliche. The romance between Eilish and Bryan was super hot but at the same time frustrating. There is lot’s of sexual tension between them but they want to deny their feelings towards each other. Bryan loves Eilish but he really thinks that he doesn’t deserve her and the poor Eilish thinks that he doesn’t want her *cliche*. I’m so glad to see Sean Cassidy playing as a cupid between Eilish and Bryan. It’s so admirable to see how much protective he was towards his cousin and once again I fell in love with him all over again. There is also Ronan in this book but he didn’t have much part in this book. Patrick, Eilish and Bryan’s son is adorably cute and I wish there was more scenes between father and the son.

The plot was really enjoyable but at the same time predictable. The story moved in a slow pace and the second half felt dragged in some parts. Nonetheless, overall, the book is entertaining with the hot romance and the emotional drama, and many readers would definitely love it. As usual, the book was told in dual POV. I loved the writing style of this book, it was full of wit and humor and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The main characters are flawed yet amazing and I’m glad they finally got their happily ever after.

Despite my issues, I still think it’s a great read and many readers has already fell in love with it! It’s just that I didn’t enjoyed it as much I did with the previous books. I probably would’ve loved it more if I hadn’t put high expectations on it.

Recommend it?
Yes!

THE CAD AND THE CO-ED is the third standalone installment of the Rugby series and I highly recommend this to everyone who loves to read second chance romances.
