I’m not great fan of books with drug lords or billionaire romance but something intrigued me about this book. This book heavily deals with drugs, addiction, redemption, healing and romance. Honestly, this book has quite surprised me in many ways and I pretty much loved the romance portrayed in it. The main characters are absolutely amazing and the story was so captivating and thrilling that’ll leave you wanting for more. This is my first book from Heather C. Leigh and I have to say that she’s a talented writer who wonderfully weaved this amazing tale of dark romance.

Miri is a Heroin drug addict who’s daily concern lies on where to get her next fix. When she runs out of Heroin, she becomes desperate enough to do anything. Her desperation makes her brave enough to enter a drug lord’s territory to beg for heroin. Boss aka Jag struggled hard and sacrificed a lot to become Austin’s most ruthless and fearless drug lord, when he finds a trespasser in his territory he’s surprised to find a junkie who intrigues him. When Jag takes care of Miri, she can’t believe him to be so gentle with her. Jag can’t deny the attraction he feels for Miri which is a weakness he can’t afford. Will she be his redemption or his downfall.

I loved the character development of Miri and Jag in this book. Miri was first introduced as a drug addict but after slowly passing through the withdrawals she starts to find her true self that was lost due to her addiction. Jag is another wonderful character that I loved. Being a ruthless drug lord, he doesn’t seem that violent but it has made him nothing but more irresistible. He was always gentle towards Miri and helped her get clean secretly without her knowledge which is the best part that I loved about him. Miri and Jag are both flawed and broken characters but together they bring out the best of each other. I immensely enjoyed the relationship between Miri and Jag and the romance is just outstanding. There is lust, angst, passion, and admiration in their love that really made me root for them.

The plot is both thrilling and exciting. It is a fast paced story that has put me on edge through out and the plot twist at the end is a bit predictable but it definitely made the story more interesting to make the readers curious enough to grab the next book. The story was told in dual pov which is another great aspect of this book and It would’ve frustrate me to hell if there isn’t any Jag’s POV. The author has a great writing style that is easy to understand and I really liked it. The book concluded with a major cliffhanger so I can’t wait to know what happens next.

Overall, I loved it! Junkie is a dark twisted romance that is less brutal and violant than any other dark books I’ve read before but still it was addicting. It was definitely a beautiful read in it’s own way and I’m so glad that it didn’t disappoint me.
