Sunday Book Recommendations #38 [24 Apr 2016]

Sunday Book Recomendations

Hi there! Welcome back to another round of Sunday Book Recommendations.

Sunday Book Recommendations is the  weekly meme hosted by me. I created this meme so I could recommend you guys some interesting books which I think are worth reading. This meme includes recommending a book from three different genres. If you want to do this meme have fun with it, but don’t forget to link back to the host. 🙂

Note: You can change the genres every week.

YA PARANORMAL ROMANCE
EXISTENSE BY ABBI GLINES
A delicious YA Paranormal read with hot romance.

BLURB: What happens when you’re stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.

Pagan Moore doesn’t cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.

Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn’t let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he’s dead.

Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn’t realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.

He is Death and he’s about to break all the rules.

YA CONTEMPORARY
MY BITTERSWEET SUMMER BY STARLA HUCHTON
[STAND-ALONE]
I absolutely loved this book! It was simple, sweet and romantic. I immensely enjoyed it and if you’re looking for a wonderful contemporary read then do give this a try.

BLURB: Margaret Walsh worked for six years to overcome the trauma she endured at the hands of bullies as a kid, and graduation promises the chance to start over in college and leave the past behind her for good.

What was supposed to be her last summer of fun before moving to Paris turns into a nightmare as her parents announce they’re taking over management of a restaurant in the New England beach town where she spent her childhood. For them, it’s an amazing possibility. For her, it means confronting memories— and people— she’d rather forget.

Margie’s all grown up now, but some things never change. When Zach Robinson insists he’s not the bully she remembers, it’s all she can do not to laugh. Still, if she’s learned anything over years, it’s that everyone deserves an opportunity to be better.

Even lost causes need second chances, but with her heart on the line, asking her to bet on a long shot might take more faith than she’s willing to give.

GHETTO BY M.L. SPARROW
[STAND-ALONE]
This book was simply amazing! It has decent plot with great characters and world building. I highly recommend it to the dystopian readers.

BLURB: My name’s Sunny Grace Beaumont. Branded SGB/2/6895/03.12.93. Only child, self-taught computer geek and cancer survivor. Oh, and did I mention my dad’s the President? As you can imagine that’s sometimes a little problematic, especially when I want to sneak out. But it never got me into quite as much trouble as the night I ventured into the Ghetto – don’t ask me why I was there in the first place… it was stupid. Everyone knows that the Ghetto is where hardened criminals are sent to live out the remainder of their lives. At first the men that kidnap me are just as I’d imagine, mean and thoughtless, but slowly I begin to have doubts.

I meet a guy. His name’s Sin, he has no Brand – a crime punishable by death – and he’s the rebel leader. I should hate him… but I don’t. Instead he opens my eyes to a whole other side of the Ghetto, where people are innocent of the crimes they’re accused of and helpless children suffer dreadful poverty. Is it possible that I’ve been lied to my entire life… that the governments been deceiving everyone? And how can I challenge the law my own dad is adamant to uphold?

Thank you! Ghetto is definitely a great read! I was a bit sad that it was only a stand-alone cause I really want more. Abbi Glines is the queen of romance authors and I really hope you enjoy Existence. 😀
