MY REVIEW

I have mixed feelings for this book I couldn’t say that I didn’t liked it because I really enjoyed reading it but it isn’t flawless either. It was a unique plot but I felt something lacking with the story building but apart from that, I liked everything in it. The synopsis was the first thing that made me interested in this and the other thing was the  vampires in it which I always love reading about them.

Soshanna is a 22 year old girl who suffers from depression and she hates the way she lives her lonely life with no social life, no boyfriend and no friends to care either. In past, she attempted to end her life so many times but she was always failed, utterly. After a long time, her parents finally allowed her to live independently, after she promised to them that she wouldn’t attempt suicide again. Soshanna tried really hard to live her life which isn’t going anywhere near better but the worst and she couldn’t take it anymore. She desperately wanted to end her life  but only because of her promise to her parents, she couldn’t kill herself cause if she failed once again, they might lock her down completely  for the rest of her life. When she hears on the news that there’s a serial killer around the town killing young ladies at night, she thinks that it would be the perfect opportunity for her to die. At night, she goes on a hunt for the killer but— she was in for a total surprise. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw that the serial killer is not a human at all but actually a blood sucking vampire. Interested in the broken-down girl the vampire named Tobias offers her a deal. Feed his needs and do as he says and he’ll give her the death that she so desperately wants.

It’s a weird love story between a human girl who wants to die and a vampire who wants to save her. Soshanna is a difficult girl to connect to and their was so much darkness in her life that I felt sympathetic towards her. She is shy and innocent girl  but she’s got the spunk too. She always finds relief by hurting herself with a blade which she always hides it somewhere where no one can find it. The book was written in Soshanna’s POV but I really hoped that it was written in Tobias POV too cause I’d love to know what’s going on in his mind. Well, Tobias is a character that I truly wanted to know more in depth but we didn’t get to know much but he was totally swoon worthy and funny too. Even though he is a bad guy in so many ways, I still liked him because he is willing to change for her. There was a reason to why Anna became suicidal which was easy to figure out with all the flashbacks  but we are still missing the whole story to it  and Tobias tries very hard to understand her so that he could break down her walls.

Most of the book was focused on Soshanna and Tobias developing relationship but less on the supporting characters and there was a background story too which I felt insufficient. There would be some readers who wouldn’t feel comfortable with Tobias as a love interest cause he’s actually a killer and he sees humans only as food besides Anna of course. As the plot moves further there’ll be some twists in it and some new characters entrance at end which has made it more interesting.

For a debut author, her writing skills is not bad but needs more creativity. There were also some parts in it which I felt a bit draggy  but they can be overlooked. With how the book ended I think there would be a sequel to it but I’m not perfectly sure about it.If there is a sequel to it I would love to continue this series because there were so many things left unexplained.Overall, I can say it was a good read but only if you are comfortable with the elements in it and I would definitely recommend it to the vampire fiction lovers. 🙂

This book sounds so twisted and dark, in a good way, but I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m still leery of vampire/human couplings after the years of Twilight/VA etc so I think I won’t be reading this one any time soon, though XD Darn the book burnout!
