Elude (Eagle Elite #6) by Rachel Van Dyken

RELEASE DATE: July 09, 2015
AUTHOR: Rachel Van Dyken
GENRE: New-Adult,Contemporary, Romance.
SUMMARY: Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married–I offered to shoot her.
Ten hours before our wedding–I made a mockery of her dying wish.
Five hours before we were going to say our vows–I promised I’d never love her.
One hour before I said I do–I vowed I’d never shed a tear over her death.
But the minute we were pronounced man and wife–I knew.
I’d only use my gun to protect her.
I’d give my life for hers.
I’d cry.
And I would, most definitely, lose my heart, to a dying girl—a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.
I always believed the mafia would be my end game–where I’d lose my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.
Or the beginning of something beautiful.
The beginning of her.
The end of us.

MY REVIEW

First of all, I wanted to say that it was  my first read from the author and I haven’t read the previous installments either  so I was bit struggled to get used to the relationships between the characters in the plot nevertheless it was an amazing read. It’s an interconnected stand-alone novel so you don’t have to bother about reading  the previous books to read this one because when you’re in it your whole attention would be on sergio and Andi only. This book caught my total attention with it’s enticing cover and the intriguing blurb, though I was a bit hesitant at first, but still I gave it a try and I’m so glad that I did cause after reading the first chapter, I was hooked. This book  totally moved me and I’ve gone through so many emotions while reading this, it made me smile, laugh and cry.It is both heart wrenching and beautiful plot with lots of raw emotions and feelings.

Sergio has done a mistake and the consequence for it was his marriage to a Russian double agent named Andi, who is suffering from leukemia and she’s got not much time left but only six months. At start, they used to hate each other but both are physically attracted towards each other.Their usual sarcastic and funny banters which I always enjoyed are turned into affections and slowly they began  to develop feelings for each other.Sergio promised himself that he wouldn’t fall for her and wouldn’t shed a single tear for her but promises are meant to be broken when you couldn’t control your own heart.Seriously, this book is a emotional roller-coaster ride.

Both Sergio and Andi are well built characters and I pretty much enjoyed knowing them. Andi is such an amazing and strong character in this plot that I really felt for her.She was suffering from cancer but still she wanted to live the rest of her remaining time to the fullest. At start, Sergio was a total jerk towards her and he always acted rude by  reminding  her illness and how stupid her plans were but later on I’ve come to like him too.The chemistry between them is great and there was so much sexual tension too.As for the other characters, I don’t know them well but still I loved the relationship between all of them, they are so caring and always look out for each other like a family.I was bit confused with the mafia thing in it apart from guns and violence, they seemed and acted like normal people to me.The best damn scene in the book was the last part which will definitely pull on your heart strings and you will  go through below emotions.

The pacing of the plot was great and I don’t know much about background story  but as for the romance part,  it was more than good. The ending was both beautiful and heart breaking scene that I couldn’t hold back my tears but still, the author gave a happy ending that we can look forward to.As for the writing, it was perfect and captivating.I seriously need to check out her other books.Honestly, I was going to give it a 3.5 stars but I really think this one deserves a 4 stars rating.Overall, It’s a beautiful romantic read and I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKED THIS! You should read the other books, they are super awesome, and you’ll understand everything better. I know it’s a lot of books, but they’re really worth it. I adore this series. Try reading the Ruin Series. Ugh I love those books as well. You can probably tell that this author is one of my favorites haha!
